Our Story

From child malnutrition detection to ecommerce sizing.

Aitaca began with a different problem. Our first computer vision system was built to detect child malnutrition from video. It is a precise, hard, high-stakes measurement task in environments where conventional tools weren't available.

The second generation of those algorithms moved from video to photo. As the measurement layer matured, we saw how versatile it had become. The same technology that could measure a child's body from a single image could, with the right calibration and product logic, measure a finger for a ring.

Jewelry was one of the clearest commercial applications. Online ring sizing was still being solved with paper printouts, string, and physical sizers shipped to homes. It is a problem with a real business cost (returns, lost sales, hesitation at checkout) and a technology gap waiting to be closed.

Today, Aitaca turns a single guided photo into a precise size recommendation, and turns every sizing session into commercial intelligence brands can act on. The mission underneath hasn't changed: use measurement to solve problems that matter.

The Name

Aitaca - AI meets Ithaca.

Our name fuses two ideas: AI, for the technology at the core of what we build, and Ithaca, the home Odysseus spent ten years sailing toward in Homer's Odyssey.

The reference is to Constantine P. Cavafy's poem Ithaca, which reframes the myth: the destination matters less than the journey. "Ithaca gave you the marvelous journey. Without her you wouldn't have set out."

Building a measurement company that works in real conditions, across real devices, for real shoppers, is its own kind of long journey. The name is a reminder that the work, the calibration, the validation, the slow accumulation of data and trust is the point.
